MAP-Canada Needs You!

A Website is a powerful tool. It allows us a glimpse of what stands behind the "wall of silence" but it can never be a tool to break down that wall. Only people can break down walls. MAP-Canada’s Board of Directors is made up of 3 very ordinary Canadians. There is no question that without your commitment and active participation, we cannot accomplish our mission. Together however, we can become a legion and legions can move governments and break down walls, one brick at a time. MAP-Canada belongs to all Canadians who are concerned and alarmed by this issue. Whether the tragedy of Crohn’s disease has touched you personally or not, any organism that is so closely related to TB and Leprosy, that causes a fatal disease in so many animals, that is shed in semen and milk, that infects a species’ youngest and most vulnerable and that has such a long incubation period, DOES NOT belong in our food and the food of our children.
Let us stand together and tell the Government “We want this
organism out of the Canadian Food Chain”.

Let us stand together and be "A voice for Crohn's".

RELEASE

Information Release… Oversight Committee to Propose a Johne’s Disease Control Program

The Canadian National Johne's Forum hosted by Saskatchewan Agriculture & Food, was a tremendous success and attended by approximately 100 people on November 17 - 18 in Saskatoon. This represents a very strong interest, perhaps not seen since efforts to eradicate Brucellosis and TB.

Background
Info

On Sept 3rd and 4th the CTV news aired 2 reports on the subject of Crohn’s disease and Paratuberculosis - see our media section for info on linking to these reports.   Dr. John Kellar of the Food Inspection Agency stated that Canada does not have any plans to investigate the link , further while an un-named person inside Health Canada admitted to CTV news that the link between Paratuberculosis and Crohns had never been studied in Canada .  CTV announced that an International Conference on Paratuberculosis is to be held in Saskatoon this coming November and that Crohn’s disease is not on the agenda.

Thank you to all who called, wrote, emailed and/or faxed letters of concern following the CTV news reports.  Although the subject of Crohn’s was not formally on the agenda, Crohn’s disease has at least been added to the panel discussion.  It is a first step.  Our readers will also be pleased to hear that Dr Michael Collins was one of the conference speakers.  However, if we want to make a substantial impact please send more letters, emails and calls if possible are needed to keep this topic in the forefront.  Thank-you,
